For the Civic Professionals
The “Services for Civic Professionals” page has 3 sections:
Civic professionals are citizens who take to heart the :
-
-
-
- Functioning and development of their societies,
- Functioning and development of their governments, and the
- Development and social and societal integration of their fellow citizens.
-
-
Among these citizens are elected officials, public leaders and administrators, civil servants and other professionals.
SOCIETALogically speaking, these professionals should naturally possess more knowledge and skills than the average citizen. If we use the Dreyfus approach, compared to the average citizen, civic professionals should be either at the performer or expert level.
The Role of Civic Professionals
We are all citizens. We are all co-owners of the societies in which we live and we all have a role to play in managing them.
However, some of us have greater responsibilities in their management. Such is the case of civic professionals.
Societalogically speaking, there are the leaders:
-
-
-
- Political, who manage legislative assemblies and governments (mayor, prime minister, president, etc.)
- Administrative: they manage a public or private organization, whether for profit or not.
-
-
Under the responsibility of these leaders, there are:
-
-
-
- Decision-makers, who receive permission from a leader to make decisions to fulfill a certain mandate
- Managers: they receive permission from a decision-maker to ensure that certain tasks are carried out.
-
-
The role of these civic professionals is to ensure that laws, rules, regulations and programs facilitate the development of :
-
-
-
- Competent citizens.
- Balanced societies.
- Efficient governments.
