Why not race? Age? Sexual orientation?

Homo sapiens is a gender species

Without Women Without Men
– there are no men
– there are no children
– there are no age differences
– there are no races
– there are no heterosexuals
– there are no LGBTA
– there are no citizens
– there are no societies
– there is no Homo sapiens
 – there are no women
– there are no children
– there are no age differences
– there are no races
– there are no heterosexuals
– there are no LGBTA
– there are no citizens
– there are no societies
– there is no Homo sapiens

Why not race? Age? Sexual orientation?

Why only Gender Balanced Legislative Assemblies? Why not have a balanced between people of different races, age or sexual orientation?

First, as the table shows above, without women or without men, none of the sub categorizations would be possible. Homo sapiens is a gender specie.

Second, gender is a stable global differentiator.

Wherever we look on our global village the population is always equally divided1 between men and women and it is stable over time1. Hence adapting our laws so that our legislative assemblies are gender balanced is an action that we will do only once. We won’t have to change it anymore.

Race, age and sexual orientation are not stable global differentiators everywhere and are not stable across time. Hence we can’t create a global best practice.

Each society must find a way to determine how they want to reduce the social tensions, frictions and conflicts that arise from race, age and sexual orientation and the SOCIETALogy Institute can help societies find innovative ways of solving them.

Third, gender differences is a major source of social  tensions, frictions and conflicts in all societies.

Although no research has been done on the subject, it is logical to assume that around 50%2 of the social  tensions, frictions and conflicts present in a society affect women since they represent 50 % of the population.

Management-wise, having women in the legislative assemblies increase both the level of knowledge and experience about not only the problems women incur, about actual and potential solutions that could be implemented to solve them.

Fourth, eliminate discrimination at the heart of the decision-making process.

A 50/50% male/female representation eliminates the potential of discrimination which starts as soon as the representation is 51/49%.

Since Homo sapiens is a specie that is constituted by 50% male and 50% female, and that female incurs 50% of the various social tensions, frictions and conflicts,  assuring that our legislative assemblies reflect this balance is a necessity.

1  –  Give or take a few decimal points.
2 – Some would say that it is more than 50% when you include social  tensions, frictions and conflicts associated with raising children which is generally a task accomplished by women.)
